Location: Pakistan

Length of stay including travel time: 3 to 6 months

Dates of travel: This is a long term project. We are willing to take volunteers when they can come.

Team Size: 1-5 people, college students welcome

Approximate Cost: $30 per day plus international airfare

Description of the project:

This project is going to provide the necessary health care facilities for  pregnant mothers and children and pre-natal delivery and post-natal care to the mothers  as well as health awareness and family spacing  programs. It will also provide necessary medication, counseling and awareness of childhood diseases, like measles, meningitis, acute respiratory infections and water borne diseases.   Outdoor consultations to male patients are also given. Emergency (first-aid) care given to accidental/injury cases.

Volunteer work to be accomplished:

General Out Patient Department (OPD), Post-natal Health Care, Mother and Child Health Awareness Program, Medical camps in outreach areas

Skill Requirements:

General Practioners, Nurse Practitioners, Midwives and obstetricians  

Living Environment: Somewhat primitive, but running water and electricity will be available. Sleeping bag needed.
