Amputees in North Africa

Helping to bring physical, mental and spirtual healing to the country.

  • The months of revolutions across North Africa have left thousands of people with serious wounds -- many of whom are now amputees. Physical rehabilitation equipment is in short supply, and those injured are limited in their ability to recover.

When an appeal was issued for donors to provide the badly needed equipment, Southern Baptists responded. Believers offered to donate used equipment -- wheel chairs, walkers, canes, and crutches -- and $6,000 was drawn from the Disaster Relief Fund to cover the cost of shipping the assistance to the area and employing local people to help restore and distribute the equipment. Not only would the recovery needs of amputees be met, but others would get much-needed work and have an opportunity to help rebuild their community.

  • When it comes to engaging a world in need, we value prayer above everything else. But Jesus specifically commanded his followers to "Go," and Baptist Global Response (BGR) encourages God's people to personally take the love of Christ to people in need. Each project described below includes contact info to learn more about how volunteers can help. General information about volunteering through BGR can be obtained by e-mailing info@gobgr.org.

    January 17th, 2012

Ask God to bring physical, mental and spiritual healing to the country.

Pray that humanitarian aid workers would experience the power of His Spirit as they serve and the wisdom to know which of the people’s many needs to address.

Thank God for caring people who faithfully donate money and material goods so workers can respond quickly to needs like this.
