Rebuild Haiti

BGR’s “Rebuild Haiti” initiative is both putting up houses and helping rebuild lives as well.

  • With almost 1 million Haitians still living in temporary shelters after the January 2010 earthquake, BGR’s “Rebuild Haiti” initiative is both putting up houses and helping rebuild lives as well. About 800 simple, 12x16-foot, tin-roofed, cinder block houses have been built, using locally available materials, with a goal of 6,200 homes built in the next two to three years. Communities are involved in deciding and selecting who gets the homes. Most families, if they have able-bodied people, are participating in the construction of their own homes. Not only are new homes going up, but communities being transformed by the dignity and pride in what Haitians are accomplishing.

  • When it comes to engaging a world in need, we value prayer above everything else. But Jesus specifically commanded his followers to "Go," and Baptist Global Response (BGR) encourages God's people to personally take the love of Christ to people in need. Each project described below includes contact info to learn more about how volunteers can help. General information about volunteering through BGR can be obtained by e-mailing info@gobgr.org.
